Advancing the Stewardship Revolution

Over hundreds of years, human activities have reduced the land's ability to function in a healthy, balanced state. We believe that a Stewardship Revolution is required now to break that cycle of exploitation and neglect. We must take steps to actively heal and care for these natural systems. Every landowner has this opportunity. The need is great, and the time is now.

Land Stewards plays a vital part in a growing movement that helps people reimagine their relationship to the land, from vast landscapes to small yards. Our distinctive role encompasses the following activities:

  • We apply contemporary methods integrated with ancient techniques to restore biodiversity and thriving ecosystems.
  • We conduct research on best practices, which we disseminate through scientific data and publications.
  • We teach these methods through educational programs and partnerships with practitioners and institutions.
  • We inspire owners and managers of land to improve their own stewardship across landscapes large and small.

The greatest danger to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.

Land Stewards has approximately 3,000 acres under its care and operates its own demonstration campus in New York's Hudson Valley. From this location, Land Stewards is developing partnerships with leading research and educational institutions. In these collaborations, we design and implement ecosystem restoration and regenerative agriculture projects, including related scientific research. In addition, we are building educational programs to inspire and equip professionals, landowners, and land managers of all kinds. Through these efforts, Land Stewards aims to advance stewardship principles that are applicable universally.
